Approval of 4 Lahore highways for Rs 6.17 billion

On Thursday, the district government approved a budget of Rs 6.17 crore for the reconstruction, expansion and rehabilitation of four highways in various parts of the city. 

Four expressways including Mangga Raiwind Road, Lake City to Raiwind Road, Raiwind Road Railway Intersection to Sau-i-Asil and Lahore Ring Road North Loop Redevelopment have been renovated and expanded by order of Prime Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi .

Farhan Rashid, Deputy Development Officer of Lahore District, said the reconstruction, renovation and expansion of the four highways is expected to cost him Rs 6.17 crore. He claimed that a total of Rs 1,140 crore was approved for the restoration and expansion of the 10-kilometre Lake City to Raiwind Road, with the initial release at Rs 257 crore.

Rs 2034 crore of funds had been released for the renovation of the North Loop of the Lahore Ring Road. Rasheed continued, they will soon begin building and expanding road plans to provide better transportation for people.

He promised them that he would complete the legal procedures necessary to widen the road within the allotted time.
