The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has signed an agreement with the National Database and Registry Authority (NADRA) to develop a biometric property verification system, news sources reported on June 30. The system uses biometrics to prevent counterfeiting, fraud and illegal transfer of property in the capital.
The deal was signed by NADRA Chairman Tariq Malik and his CDA Chairman Amir Ali Ahmed in attendance at the former headquarters. Under the terms of the contract, NADRA will design and implement a Biometric Verification (BVS) solution for the sale, purchase and transfer of all assets in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).
This new system will benefit a total of 20,000 property sales, purchases and transfers in the CDA each year. At the time, NADRA President Tariq Malik said that digital solutions provided by NADRA can biometrically verify citizens and their families to address the challenges faced by any organization. This will provide an additional layer of protection against fraud on top of the current affidavit system, while improving the CDA’s internal operations.
According to CDA Chairman Amir Ali, the BVS system will increase organizational transparency, enable accurate identification, and minimize the risk of unwanted breaches within the CDA.
