The Punjab Central Business District Development Authority (PCBDDA) has started the construction work on the residential and commercial high-rise buildings in Walton Airport and Bab-e-Pakistan.
According to the news outlet, the PCBDDA anticipates attracting investments of billions of rupees and creating thousands of jobs. The objective of this project is to elevate Lahore to the level of developed-nation cities. High-rise buildings will be built as part of these developments to house all residential, business, and healthcare amenities in one location.
The projects have received investments totaling PKR 56 billion, and it is anticipated that this sum will grow to PKR 2 trillion over the next few years. In addition to the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) and Metropolitan Corporation, the Punjab government has established a body to use the unoccupied residential and commercial land in the Walton Airport or Lahore Downtown and Bab-e-Pakistan areas for the construction of a business hub.
The authority has received 295 acres of land to be used for the construction of a well-planned economic centre over two phases. It’s important to remember that the Walton Airport neighbourhood is now known as “Lahore Downtown.” 12 commercial plots were auctioned off by the authority in the first round, raising PKR 56 billion.
On the plots that were auctioned, it was specified that high-rise structures with 70 stories or more will be built. With the money obtained, the PCBDDA has commenced the development process. The initial phase of development has begun on an 8-story plaza with 25,000 car parking spaces.
In addition, remodelling work on the Kalma Chowk underpass has begun in an effort to lessen traffic on all the roadways. The middle portion of the highway will be made signal-free, according to the specifics. The project must be finished within six months, according to instructions given to the National Logistics Cell (NLC).
In addition, the PCBDDA will create a park in the vicinity of Bab-e-Pakistan to honour all the martyrs of the freedom movement. The park’s final plan is being developed, and once it is done, the development of the park will begin. Within five years, the project’s first phase is anticipated to be finished, at which point the second phase will begin to be worked on.
