Abrar Alam, secretary general of the Punjab Arts Council, said PKR 390 million was approved for the modernization of Bagh-e-Jinnah’s open-air theater, according to news published in a major newspaper on October 5. announced.
According to the details, the budget for the upgrade will be allocated under the Annual Development Program (ADP). The project is scheduled to be completed in 2023. A news source said the city’s oldest theater has been modernized and equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.
In addition, the Executive Secretary shared that a Design Approval Committee meeting was held last year to finalize recommendations on the design of the programme. The committee finalized the details of the project and work has begun.
As part of the modernization programme, the amphitheater will be brought up to international standards to preserve cultural heritage and promote Punjabi arts, culture and language. The director announced that the project would include a make-up room, control room, conference room, project room, dressing room, music room, art gallery, executives, soundproof studio and surveillance cameras. He further said that marble would be placed on the stage and an expanded parking lot and cafe would be built.
