Gulberg Elevated Expressway to be funded by ADB: LDA

Amir Ahmad Khan, Director General (DG) of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA), said the Gulberg elevated highway project will be funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

This was announced by the Executive Director after meeting four strong ADB delegations who were meeting to discuss funding options and the scope of the project. On the occasion, DG Amir said the Gulberg elevated highway would be the city’s flagship project.

According to LDA DG Amir, the aim of the project is to improve traffic flow in downtown Lahore and connect traffic to the city’s gateways. Participants were also briefed by LDA’s 

Chief Engineer, Israr Saeed Khan, on the project’s design elements and potential environmental impacts. It is important to note that Project Concept 1 (PC-1) of the Gulberg Elevated Expressway project was approved in 2020. 

The 10.5-kilometer route costs Rs 85 crore and includes Gulberg Main Boulevard with Lahore-Islamabad Highway (M-2), bypassing Shadman, Samanabad, Ferozepur Road, Gulshan Ravi.
