The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) in Lahore has announced plans to lay a new sewage system in the Gulberg area under the LDA Master Plan 2050.
The project will involve the replacement of sewerage lines in areas including the Main Market, Mini Market, Ghalib Market, Gaddafi Stadium, Center Point, and Firdous Market.
The project’s total cost has been estimated at PKR 4.75 billion, which will also include the construction of a temporary wastewater processing facility near Kalma Chowk and a permanent water treatment plant near Ring Road.
The permanent facility will be able to process 2,000 cusecs of grey water daily and is expected to be completed by 2050.
The initiative has been taken to increase capacity in response to the growing number of high-rise buildings and the Central Business District (CBD) Downtown project in the high-density, highly populated Gulberg area.
