The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has taken a laudable step by revising its building bylaws to promote rooftop gardening in the city.
This initiative aims to enhance green spaces in Lahore and promote sustainable practices.
During a meeting to review water and environmental issues, Mohammad Ali Randhawa, the Director General of LDA and Lahore Commissioner, discussed the revision of bylaws and highlighted steps taken to protect the environment during ongoing development projects in the city.
He emphasised promoting rooftop gardening as part of their corporate social responsibility.
Various departments, including LDA, PHA, Traffic Police, and MCL, will cooperate in this initiative to protect Lahore’s green belts and preserve its natural beauty.
Randhawa added that deadlines would be given to each agency for compliance with court orders and that they would take action to stop the encroachment of green belts in the city.
In a meeting presided by the Chief Secretary Punjab, all departments were instructed to encourage rooftop gardening.
Furthermore, Randhawa highlighted the need for cooperation between all Samanabad Underpass and Akbar Chowk project departments to comply with court orders.
