The government has launched an investigation to help identify illegal housing associations set up without obtaining NOCs, news sources reported.
Finance and field staff will review records and compile an updated list of all private housing companies currently operating in non-NOC cities. The Civil Registry Office has released a list of all illegal housing projects in the federal metropolitan area. The list declares 140 private and multi-family housing projects illegal.
The two-step permit required to build private housing consists of issuing a NOC and submitting a site plan for approval. The registration process consists of 19 main steps and 29 intermediate steps. The total time to obtain NOC approval is approximately two and a half years.
Once this listing is completed, the illegal housing associations included on the list will be ordered to stop finishing work immediately to avoid legal action.
